Liam is extremely passionate and active in theatre, film and television and believes strongly in its ability to educate, entertain, and empower. He originally trained as an actor at the Drama Centre, London and now splits his time between acting coaching, writing, and directing.

Explore the fundamentals of acting in this practical course, designed for people with little or no experience of acting. Increase your confidence and discover your potential in a safe and supportive environment filled to the brim with practical acting tips for beginners and tricks.

We firmly believe in the value of Acting and Drama Courses for developing life skills, irrespective of whether you want to pursue acting in a sustained way.

Acting tips for beginners and techniques are transferable to your working and social life, enhancing communication – learning about yourself and how you relate to others – building confidence and developing your imagination and creativity.

Our acting courses are planned to offer a progression through the levels of Beginners, Improvers to Advanced. You will receive guidance from your acting coach but in general, we recommend that students take each level twice, with different teachers, before progressing to the next level. You will not repeat any content and will be challenged with new skills and acting techniques.

Once you have completed a term, you may feel ready to join our Ensemble Company or even audition for our resident Acting Company!

Specific skills you will learn this term include: Text analysis – how to get the most from a script, Building a character – how to find them in the script, Working with other actors – how to get the most out of yourself.

  • WEEK ONE – The scene – first look – obtaining the facts
  • WEEK TWO –Immediate circumstance – breaking down the text
  • WEEK THREE –Playing intentions – understand what the character wants
  • WEEK FOUR– Characteristics – how to embody them as a tool
  • WEEK FIVE  – Who’s in the text? How to extract the character is from the text
  • WEEK SIX-Phycological activities – playing individual actions on the line
  • WEEK SEVEN – Physical life – animal work
  • WEEK EIGHT-Learning the lines – tips and tricks
  • WEEK NINE-Rehearsal – how to get connected in a scene
  • WEEK TEN– Rehearsal – how to create a relationship in a scene
  • WEEK ELEVEN– Play the scene – with freedom
