Two Wins: The Anna Fiorentini Performing Arts School wins Social Enterprise of the year and Community Business 2024 Awards

On Wednesday, February 1, The Anna Fiorentini Performing Arts School won Social Enterprise of the Year for the Great British Businesswoman Awards. Then again, on Thursday, February 8th, they won Community Business 2024 for the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Anna Fiorentini Performing Arts School encompasses:

  • The Anna Fiorentini Theatre & Film School for 4–18-year-olds.
  • Stage & the City: after-work performing arts evening classes for adults who wish to explore their creativity, as well as corporate team-building events.
  • The Fiorentini & Mosson Theatrical Agency, which gets its students professional work on TV, film, and the West End stage.
  • The Fiorentini Foundation is the charitable arm.

All profits made are reinvested back into the company to ensure that less privileged children (including those with physical or learning disabilities, those who have been badly bullied, are in the care system, or are suffering from bereavement or a health condition) can access the services, ensuring increased confidence, self-esteem, and transferable life skills. Countless professional opportunities have been given to young people, opportunities they may not have had if a lack of finances prevented them from attending school.

Anna Fiorentini says, “I am still in shock at having won these awards. There were so many inspiring businesses and individuals at the awards nights. I can only thank my team for all their hard work and support. It is getting harder and harder to access funding to support our cause, but winning these awards gives us renewed motivation to keep putting on fundraising events ourselves.”

There are a number of ways that companies and individuals can support this community enterprise:

Lip Sync Dance Battle – Seeking individuals as well as companies for a Team Building Event

We are looking for a small number of individuals who are up for taking on this fun challenge and raising some sponsorship money for the Fiorentini Foundation.

Sunday, March 3: The participants will learn an 80s-themed dance routine in five hours, under the guidance of industry professionals. No experience is necessary. The less you have, the more likely it is that your friends and colleagues will sponsor you. You won’t have to dance by yourself, but rather as a group.

Saturday, March 16: The group will perform the routine in front of a live, sell-out audience at our Hackney Empire Gala Variety Showcase (7 p.m.–9.30 p.m.) at the end of Act 1 to a standing ovation.

RequirementThis is a charity event, so all we ask is that the participants raise a minimum of £100 (training and rehearsal are free, as is the chance to be on the stage).

This is a fantastic feel-good, once-in-a-lifetime experience to perform in front of an audience of over 1,300 people at the legendary Hackney Empire, and it’s all for a good cause! Our theme this year is 80s icons, so expect a colourful array of iconic stars from the era to be gracing the stage. A team-building event such as this, which includes a showcase at the world-famous Hackney Empire, is worth over £4000 for a company, but you can access it for free. More details are here.

General Team Building Events

Consider hiring Stage & the City for your team-building events. We have put together a thriller video with Natwest bank managers, a confidence-in-presentations workshop for Pret a Manger middle managers, and Loughborough University, to name but a few. We are also about to do a grease team-building event with a famous brand in two weeks’ time (all will be revealed).

All profits from our team-building events go to our charitable arm, and each participant will be given a certificate of thanks from the Fiorentini Foundation with the number of children they have helped support. For more information about our team building events, please e-mail anna@afperformingarts.com.

You can, of course, make a general donation via our charity page, big or small. Your donation will help to support the next generation of talent by clicking here.
