Rebecca Dyer has been performing from a very young age and she appeared in her first professional show at the age of 7, the UK Tour of Annie. She attended Bird College where she gained a First Class Honours Degree in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre. Since graduating, Rebecca has performed as a featured dancer in the Beauty and the Beast Pantomime at Hartlepool’s Town Hall Theatre, as a dancer in Elton John’s Bennie and the Jets official music video, she also appeared in Viewpoint which recently aired for ITV.

Then let us bring you one toe-tapping step closer with our Musical Theatre Dance Course! In this upbeat and fun dance class for adults, you can expect to work on a hybrid of show tunes all designed to get your feet moving and heart pumping.

This Summer term is focused around choreography through the decades, from the Golden Age of Musicals right through to modern classics! You will spend a fortnight learning and perfecting the moves so by the end of the term you will have seven numbers under your belt.

Improve your dancing skills

Our top industry professionals will help you work through fun and upbeat routines from a variety of much loved musicals. You’ll develop techniques to help you storytell through dance in these dance lessons in London. Term by term these dance classes will take you through the technique of iconic musical styles inspired by legends including Bob Fosse, Gene Kelly, and Jerome Robbins.

For this Musical Theatre Dance course, you don’t need to be the best dancer, we are just looking for a readiness to learn, energy and passion. No experience is necessary! Just the willingness to have fun and give it a go. All ages over 18 are welcome.

Course Content - Summer Term

Weekly dance classes in London will look a little like this:

SPECIFIC SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN THIS TERM: Perfect core Broadway jazz moves such as chene turns, corner work, kicks, leaps/stag leaps and pirouette technique. Learn about key styles of the time-their differences and musicality.

  • WEEK ONE: You can’t stop the Beat! Join us for this upbeat Hairspray workshop (1960’s)
  • WEEKS TWO AND THREE: Singing in the Rain All I do-working on the Charleston technique (1920’s) and perfect in week three
  • WEEK FOUR AND FIVE: Set warm up, begin choreography from Top Hat Puttin’ on the Ritz (1930’s) and perfect in week five
  • WEEKS SIX AND SEVEN: Set warm up, begin chorography from Oklahoma! (1940’s) and perfect in week seven
  • WEEK EIGHT AND NINE: Set warm up, Guys & Dolls Luck be a Lady (1950’s) and perfect in week nine
  • WEEK TEN AND ELEVEN: Set warm up, Saturday Night Fever Night Fever (1970’s) and perfect in week eleven
  • WEEK TWELVE: Dreamgirls Move (1980’s)
