Jack Holliday Jack has performed professionally for a number of years, alongside his teaching career and photography business. He first started his career in pantomimes around the midlands, he went on to perform around the country in musical theatre and concert based performances, including touring the country performing as ‘Harry Styles’ in the UK’s number 1 ‘One Direction’ tribute act. He graduated from one of the top teaching universities in the country, graduating while it held the number 1 spot for most employable and best teaching based degree, studying Drama in the Community. He is a vocal coach and creative director who has directed over 60 productions in his career.

Other credits include: Annas (Understudy Jesus & Judas) in Jesus Christ Superstar, Chris in Miss Saigon, The Baker in Into the Woods, Corny Collins in Hairspray, Grantaire in Les Misérables, Alan Strang in Equus
Musical Direction credits include: Addams Family, Aladdin, Annie, Fame!, Footloose, Grease, Hairspray, Into the Woods, Joseph and the Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat, Legally Blonde, Mamma Mia, Peter Pan, Oliver!, Singing in the Rain, Thoroughly Modern Millie, West Side Story, The Wizard of OZ, 13 the Musical and many more.

City Singers is Stage & the City’s Contemporary Choir; bringing a combination of  basic technical knowledge about the mechanics of your voice and an sing along in many genre’s.

Eventually this choir will perform at all of Stage & the City’s showcases (including the Stage & the City Showcase this December), fundraisers, take part in flash mobs, and also private events.

This class is open to both men and women over 18 years old from all backgrounds who love singing and want to be part of a fun and talented group of like-minded people who just want to use their voice! All we ask is that you are able to sing in tune!

Led by a professional singing coach, improve vocal techniques, performance skills, how to harmonise as a new group and how to protect your voice whilst singing.

Course Content Winter Term: (subject to minor changes)

  • SPECIFIC SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN THIS TERM: Learn and execute the difference between the vocal tilt’s, protecting the voice and learning how to reduce strain while singing, learn to harmonise as an individual and in small groups without relying on other singers
  • WEEK ONE: Quick vocal warm up and vocal game followed by discussion of ideas on the contrasting number options – Then start on song number one for the showcase
  • WEEK TWO: Continue working on showcase song number one – assess potential vocal solo’s and assign.
  • WEEK THREE: Finish vocals for song number one
  • WEEK FOUR: Run song number one and clean up then start song number two for the showcase
  • WEEK FIVE: Continue and finish song number two
  • WEEK SIX: Learn basic vocals to the group finale (the finale will include all of the other Stage & the City classes taking part in the showcase) – this should take less than one session due to the song choice
  • WEEK SEVEN: Clean vocals and apply VERY basic choreography to the finale number and simple movement for the other numbers
  • WEEK EIGHT: Clean vocals and apply VERY basic choreography to the finale number and simple movement for the other numbers
  • WEEK NINE: Clean vocals and apply VERY basic choreography to the finale number and simple movement for the other numbers
  • WEEK TEN: Clean all numbers ready for the showcase

Please note that as we are an adult performing arts school, any video footage or photographs taken during your class may be used on our social media for marketing and promotional purposes.

City Singers will meet on Tuesdays 6.30pm – 7.45pm,  27th September 2022- 29th November. ALL profits from this course will go towards Saving the Anna Fiorentini Kids Charity Theatre School.
