Claire Amias Claire is a RADA trained actor. She has worked extensively on stage and screen. She also acts, writes and directs for her theatre company A Monkey With Cymbals. On-screen Claire has played main supporting roles in numerous feature films including Mabel Smith in Borley Rectory (alongside Reece Shearsmith), Ms. Conrad in Telling Lies (alongside Jason Flemyng and Melanie Brown), the Young Nurse in Provoked (which starred Miranda Richardson and Robbie Coltrane), and Beattie in The Magic Hour. Stage roles have included Mags in Handbagged and Sheila in Relatively Speaking at Windsor Theatre Royal and on tour, and Maggie in Hobson’s Choice and Liz Essendine in Present Laughter at Chesterfield Pomegranate Theatre all for Paul Taylor-Mills. Also Claire has performed in several No 1 Tours – Funny Peculiar for Bill Kenwright and Handbagged for Eleanor Lloyd Prods.

Our acting classes are designed to offer a progression through the levels of Beginners to Improvers and Acting Company. With an emphasis on fun, the course is also aiming to teach a toolbox of skills for the aspiring performer, to someone wishing to brush up their skills. You will receive guidance and feedback from your acting coach throughout the course.

Once you have attended our Acting for Beginners classes and feel ready to progress onto the next level, or if you have completed a similar acting course elsewhere, you may consider applying for our Acting Company course.

Following this 11 week course, you may wish to continue onto following terms where you will start to look at scripted work. This course is also a good stepping stone should you wish to audition for Stage & the City’s Acting Company. All classes are fully Covid secure.

From this course you can expect:

Course Content:

  • Group activities, drama games and improvisation
  • A selection of approaches to acting technique
  • Building a character
  • Devised scenes
  • Actioning a text – how to use the information already in a play to inform character choices
  • Working on scenes from published plays
  • Meet a new group of like-minded peers to safely socialise and learn with
  • Focus on voice

This course will take place on Wednesday 7pm – 9pm, 29th September- 8th December. ALL profits from this course will go towards Saving the Anna Fiorentini Kids Charity Theatre School.
