This term’s acting for TV/Film course we will be split in to two themes, focussing on cutting edge TV and looking at classic villains and heroes from movies and television, and performing their best scenes. We’ll investigate what makes these characters great, looking at character motivation and on-screen performance techniques and set up to create our own versions of these iconic scenes. First and foremost this class is about enjoyment and freeing you as an actor so you can climb into the shoes of some of cinema and televisions most iconic characters!
You could either do Theme one, Theme two, or both! Each of the themes have been designed to complement each other so students are encouraged to book both, though it is not compulsory.
There are many disciplines in the world of acting. Among the most challenging and yet rewarding is that of acting on screen. Acting in front of a lens, is a polar shift from treading the boards. The intensity and pressure to perform can feel overwhelming.
“The quality of your acting is dependent on the strength of your listening.” (Alan Rickman).
For the next six weeks we will build up your ‘acting for screen’ technique utilising scenes from Fleabag, I May Destroy you, I Hate Suzie and The Affair tackling both monologues and duologues from each. After an intensive analysis and rehearsal period, you will be guided towards delivering your version of contemporary cutting-edge characters on camera!
Time to build up your ‘acting for screen’ skills and process in order to get inside both troubling and admirable characters. We will be analysing and performing scenes from infamous screen HEROES and VILLAINS. Establishing an understanding of what is required from you when performing a character on a mission.
This course will take place on Tuesdays 6.45pm – 8.45pm, 18th May- 22nd June (Theme One) 29th June-3rd August (Theme Two). ALL profits from this course will go towards Saving the Anna Fiorentini Kids Charity Theatre School.
