Shannon Stuart will be starring in the upcoming Musical Theatre Company show “Mad, Crazy, Love” this weekend at the Tower Theatre.
From suits to stars is a blog segment featuring students at Stage & the City, and pulls back the curtain on their lives and experiences as adults participating on our courses. This feature aims to remove the common misconceptions about performing arts classes as only being for professional actors or dancers, but instead that most of our students are from all walks of life. As our slogan says, classes for adults who just want to have fun!
Please tell us a little bit about your background and what you do for a living
So currently I am in my first year as a student at the University of West London – London College of Music studying Musical Theatre. I’ve always loved performing ever since I was little but didn’t really have the courage to pursue it until about 2-3 years ago.
What inspired you to join our Musical Theatre Company?
At the time when I joined in June 2018, I’d just finished the Intermediates course and just moved to London too. I knew it was the right thing for me as I’d always wanted to be part of something that did full scale productions, not just showcases.
What do you love the most about performing arts?
The thing I love most about performing arts is the freedom of expression. It’s all open to interpretation and there’s no right or wrong way to do something. Also I just love singing and it’s really fun!
What do you enjoy the most about being a member of our Musical Theatre Company?
I mostly enjoy the fact that I feel like I’ve made lifelong friends in this group. These wonderful people just get me as a person and I love them all very much.
Soon you will be performing in our musical production at the Tower Theatre, is this going to be the first time you’ve performed in front of an audience?
No actually! This will be my third show with Stage & the City but in the past I’ve done open mics, school and college performances so I’m excited to add this to my list.
Shannon Stuart will be performing in the Musical Theatre Company show, “Mad, Crazy, Love” which debuts this Friday the 22nd of November at the Tower Theatre.
