Make the Most of your Staycation: The Benefits of Attending Summer Schools

[Edited 29/07/2021]

It’s that time of year again—the summer holidays. While some may appreciate the long break, many may be troubled by the thought of keeping their kids busy for weeks on end without the option of a summer getaway! But don’t worry, because we have your staycation covered.

Our summer schools are back for July and August 2021!

Taking place in Stratford (London), students will spend time creating their own musicals before taking part in a dazzling performance at the end of the week. Led by industry professionals, the courses are open to both Anna Fiorentini students and non-students. It’s a great chance to meet new people, develop skills, and have fun.

Keeping your kids active and engaged during the school holidays can be extremely beneficial to them. Here are some reasons why:

Maintains a daily routine

The pandemic made a mess of our daily routine and rhythm. Change can be stressful and confusing for children. For many, the school environment provides the structure and routine that children need to thrive. This structure can help teach a child responsibility and self-control. But just as we thought we were starting to settle into a new routine, the schools closed for the summer holidays!

So to keep the holidays as enjoyable and stress-free as possible, we suggest you enrol your children in our summer school. By committing to a regular schedule, even for a week, your child will be able to better transition from school to home. Our summer school will provide a fun-filled curriculum to keep children’s minds and bodies engaged.

Encourages healthy activity

We all know that children need at least one hour of exercise a day. This can sometimes be easier said than done, especially when parents and guardians have their own routines to manage! Our summer school combines physical activity with creativity, which can make it feel less like exercise and more like fun.

By keeping your children physically active during the holidays, your child’s ability to focus will develop alongside the obvious health benefits of staying fit. Studies show that exercise can improve cognition, mental function, social development, and the capacity to process information. This will give your child a head start once they return to school!

Builds confidence

After a difficult year of being stuck at home, many children and young people have had to deal with new anxieties and worries. The enforced inactivity has had a huge impact on children’s well-being. Our summer school is a fantastic way to enhance a young person’s confidence, development, education, and creativity. It will give your child the opportunity to express and explore who they are in a safe and friendly atmosphere while building new relationships.

But don’t just take my word for it, Kerry Noble (mum of three Summer School students aged 13, 11 and 7) said:

My kids love the Anna Fiorentini Summer School and they can’t wait to go again this year. They get a week of fun classes in drama, dance and singing, with amazing teachers. I’m always so impressed by the end-of-week show and I think it’s a real confidence booster. I can’t think of a better way to fill a week of the summer holidays.

Promotes fun whilst learning

Perhaps one of the most important things is that our Performing Arts Summer School allows children to explore their curiosity and try out new things in a fun and supportive environment. After such a tough few months, it feels essential that we let our children be playful and creative.

Our kids have all been superheroes over the last year and that’s why our Summer School’s themes are perfect! Week One (26th July-30th July 2021) will be focusing on superheroes, and children will create their very own Superhero Musical with a performance for friends and family at the end of the week. It’s a chance for them to express themselves and have a lot of fun. Week Two (16th-20th August 2021) will be delving into iconic musicals with students again performing at the end of the week.

As the world starts to ease out of lockdown, this is the perfect time for kids to learn some new and exciting skills (no matter their ability), make new friends and have a blast whilst doing it! On top of the physical and mental benefits, you’ll also be helping them create fantastic memories.

And whilst our first week of Summer School has just finished, there are limited spaces available for our second week so be sure to reserve a space as soon as possible. If you are currently a student, you are able to get the Early Bird Discount at any time! Click here to book your place now.
