In anticipation of the exciting Acting Company debut production “13” by Mike Bartlett, we decided to get an insight into our cast members to learn more about the people behind the costume!
This is Shakira Stevens who will be playing Holly. If you want more information about “13”, click here.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, and your background with performing.
I am currently one of two things, I am a finance analyst but at the same time a creative content producer specialising in creating online content and followings.
Why did you decide to join the Acting Company?
I joined the acting company because I had previously done two acting courses with Stage & the City and felt I was ready to be part of the company
What have you enjoyed the most from being in our Acting Company?
I loved learning new skills and acting techniques used on stage. I love piecing together the whole play, from blocking to the emotional techniques.
You will soon be on stage at the Courtyard Theatre – is this your first time on stage?
No, I have been acting from a very young age I took a break to go back to uni to study and now I am back to it.
Do you have any advice for someone looking to take an Acting course but might be uncertain?
There is a class for absolutely everyone depending on your experience – before signing up, I recommend trying a taster or experience class so you know what level you are and there will also be a chance to move up or move down.
If you’d like to come and support our Acting Company’s first show and see Shakira Stevens and the rest of the cast, then don’t miss the production running on the 29, 30, and 31 March 2020 at the Courtyard Theatre.
