It’s natural to want things to go back to the way they were but the world around us has changed. Rather than worry about what those elements might be, try and accept that you will get used to them over time and be kind and patient with how you’re feeling.
You might not have control over your environment but you can control how you respond to it. If going into a shop makes you feel anxious, find some coping strategies that help you respond in a more positive way and take back some control in your life.
Yes, we’re biased but finding a new, healthy outlet can have a significant impact on how you view the world and yourself. If performing arts isn’t your thing, consider a new hobby that gives you power – running or lifting weights for example. Find a challenge that gives you back a sense of yourself.
It can be hard to admit you’re struggling but talking to a friend or an expert can really make a difference. You’ll probably be surprised at how many people feel the same way you do.
Perhaps a walk around the block to start with, then build up to a longer walk incorporating a shop or café. Make sure to walk in nature if you can but set yourselves goals that you can tick off each day to slowly build confidence.
